Snapping on the heels of their summer hit Forwards Backwards, Stick To What You Know is about defying the pressure to follow a traditional career path.

Singer Marcus Marooth said: “It’s about finding something that you love and pursuing it with everything you’ve got.

“There is a lot of pressure in society to find a job, settle down then rinse and repeat.

“This track is about not settling for that 9-5 job you hate for the rest of your life.

“Something that’s proved more than testing for everyone in 2020.”

Sarpa Salpa will be joined by Low Girl at Craufurd and although the gig is sold out, Viral Broadcasts will be streaming it live

It will be free to watch online, however, Craufurd is asking anyone who does tune-in for a donation which will be used towards helping it navigate through the impact of Covid-19.

Marcus is joined in Sarpa Salpa by guitarist George Neath, bassist Ethan Whitby, drummer Charlie Doe and Meg Amirghisvand on synths.

In what is proving to be a tricky year for everyone, Sarpa Salpa followed up their debut EP Say Something with the release of their disco-tinged single Forwards Backwards in May.

This continued their run of radio success with extensive support from BBC Introducing, Radio X and BBC 6 Music as well as BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders who crowned the track his song of the week in June, playing the band for 12 weeks running.

This national radio exposure attracted the attention of the Student Radio Association who added the track to their curated Spotify ‘Student’s Union’ and Deezer ‘Campus Sounds’ playlists in addition to their official playlist for more than 100 university radio stations around the UK.

With the cancellation of numerous festivals and a UK tour booked for the Autumn the band’s only outlet became social media.

What followed was a whole host of streams in support of local venues and promotors as well as a slot at Radio 1’s Virtual ‘Big Weekend’.

Looking forward, the time away from live shows has given Sarpa Salpa the perfect opportunity to focus on developing the wealth of material written over the past couple of years.

During lockdown the band have written some of their best music yet which once recorded in the studio will join Stick To What You Know and Forwards Backwards on their sophomore EP due for release early next year.

Sarpa Salpa are due to play a series of shows in January and March across the UK, subject to national coronavirus guidelines.
