Royal Philharmonic at Derngate

There will be rare opportunity to hear the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Charles Dutoit at Royal & Derngate next week.

Dutoit is one of the sought-after conductors and will be performing a programme of Dvorak and Tchaikovsky.

Joining the Orchestra will be cellist Gautier Capuçon, performing Dvorak’s Cello Concerto.

Hailed by LA Times as a ‘brilliant soloist’, Capuçon is known for his passionate playing, entertaining audiences worldwide.

Audiences will also have the chance to hear Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 from the New World. Composed while Dvorak was living in America, the piece is inspired by the ‘wide open spaces’ he saw there, while also looking back on his native Bohemia.

Neil Armstrong took a recording of the piece with him to the moon in 1969.

The concert will be opened with Tchaikovsky’s The Polonaise from Eugene Onegin.

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra takes to the Derngate stage on Saturday, April 2.

Tickets cost from £15 to £34.50 for adults. Doors open at 7.70pm.
