There will be no cries of "oh yes he is!" at a Kettering theatre this year after the panto was postponed until 2021.

The Lighthouse Theatre had been hoping to lift the curtain on their production of Jack and the Beanstalk this Christmas, with families booked in to join intrepid Jack on the adventure of a lifetime as he bounds up the beanstalk to do battle with Giant Blunderbore.

But with the Thurston Drive venue closed because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and with no re-opening date confirmed so far, it's now been postponed until next year.

A spokesman for the theatre said the decision was "very sad" and that ticket holders would receive an email saying which showing their ticket has been moved to.

The panto will instead run from December 10, 2021, to January 2, 2022. To book tickets for next year's show, click here.

The Lighthouse Theatre spokesman said: "The impact of Covid-19 has been devastating for the theatre and live entertainment industry.

"We are working with the governing bodies and other UK venues to explore ways we can re-open safely, but whilst social distancing measures are still in place, we must remain closed for the foreseeable future."

They added: "We are working on a long-term re-opening plan but at this time, we can’t confirm a re-opening date.

"All future shows dates are available to view or book online. We are looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future."
