Irish sensation Nathan Carter to sing in Northampton
Liverpool born country sensation Nathan Carter brings his UK tour to Royal & Derngate on Friday night.
Carter is one of the most successful live acts across the Irish music scene and is fast becoming a household name, with his fine performances of heart-felt, upbeat and infectious pop ballads.Since he burst onto the scene in 2009, Carter has released three number one selling albums in the Irish music charts and has captivated audiences across Ireland, the UK and beyond. His popularity, combined with numerous TV appearances including BBC’s The Nolan Show, has helped bring the genre to a new generation of up and coming country music fans.Growing up in a house where country and western music filled the air, Carter was exposed to classic songs of Johnny Cash, Don Williams and Dolly Parton. Learning to guitar, piano and accordion as a four year old, he quickly became head chorister in the Liverpool Boys choir where he toured the world and even performed in front of the Pope in Rome.Carter will be joined by his six-piece band and will play variety of country, Irish, pop and ballads including crowd favourite Wagon Wheel. He headlines the venue on Friday, February 24. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets cost from Â£23.50 to Â£28.50 before fees.On Sunday, The Astor Big Band brings its show More Miller Magic show to the venue. Along with its vocal group and the Strictly Miller Dancers from the Northampton Musical Theatre Company, the band will play a host of hits including In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction, American Patrol and Serenade in Blue.The band also perform the big band hits of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters, along with songs from the musicals, including West Side Story, Les Miserables, Grease and Chicago, all in the unmistakable Glenn Miller style.The Astor Big Band was formed by Terry Steel to play at the Astor Club in London from 1971 to 1980, where jazz luminaries such as Count Basie would drop in to play after their London shows.All profits plus a collection in the interval will be donated to the Royal British Legion.The Astor Big Band take to the Derngate stage on Sunday February 26 at 3pm.
