Greenbelt adds new musicians, comedians and activists to festival line-up

More new musicians, comedians and campaigners have been added to the line-up of this year’s Greenbelt Festival.

Greenbelt will head back to Boughton House near Kettering for the final time this summer before its move to a new – as yet unannounced – home.

The new music acts added include Soweto’s BCUC, LA based Capyac, Irish award nominees Junior Brother and singer-songwriter Rose Betts as well as Shlomo & The Gob Orchestra and St Catherine’s Child.

Greenbelt combines music, performing and visual arts, comedy, literature, poetry and spoken word, and worship and spirituality.

New additions elsewhere on the line-up include broadcaster Cathy Numan, campaigner Mina Smallman, comedian and actor Reggie Watts and presenter and author Robin Ince.

All join previously announced names including Arrested Development, The Proclaimers, Fulo Miziki, Grace Petrie, Daraa Tribes, Dustbowl Revival, Penguin Café, Withered Hand, XRay Vez, Belle Tindall-Riley, Bill McKibben, Charlotte Church, Helen Lewis, Rizzle Kicks member Jordan Stephens, Nick Lowles, Omar Barghouti, Sonita Alleyne, Malak Mattar and Neil Musson and Jono Retallick.

More acts are due to be announced in the coming months.

Greenbelt takes place from Thursday, August 27, to Sunday, August 30.

The festival has taken place at its existing venue for the last decade and while the team behind Greenbelt have described their finances as “healthy”, they have said the decision to look for a new home will help ensure the future of the festival.

Tickets are on sale now, with Supported, Standard and Supporter tiers again available.

Standard adult weekend tickets currently cost £220 with concessions for teenagers and children.
