Billy Lockett to release classical album Together At Home next month

Billy Lockett has revealed plans to release a classical album next month more than a decade since recording one as a teenager with this father.

The Northampton singer songwriter took to social media on Friday to make the announcement.

The record, called Together At Home, is due out on June 26.

Speaking online, Lockett said: “I am so pleased to announce I am releasing a classical album.

“I’ve called it Together At Home because it reminds me of some truly incredible times at home with my dad.

“Even though the world is in a mess right now, we should be grateful for the time we have together at home with our family because you never know when it might disappear. I really do hope you love this album.”

In the accompanying announcement, Lockett posted a picture of him as a 14-year-old, painted by his father.

Lockett added: “My dad painted this picture of me for the cover of my very first album when I was 14 years-old.

“It was a classical album because at the time I hadn't started singing yet.

“I remember us spending most of the year trying to record it in the basement using two mics and his Windows 98 computer.

“It sounded terrible but man, we worked hard on it, and even though we only sold 100 or so copies to friends and family it felt like an incredible team achievement of ours.

“Fast forward 12 years and I have decided to write and produce a new classical album in that very same basement only this time, with slightly more of a fan base and definitely more than two mics.”

Lockett released his latest EP Reset in 2019 and in recent years has headlined the O2 Empire in Shepherd’s Bush and opened for ELO at arenas across the UK and Europe.

This year he has released the tracks Love to Give and Call Me In The Morning.
