Wood and Co were beaten 20-13 at Sale Sharks on Sunday, losing for the second time in three Aviva Premiership games this season.

Saints have lacked spark away from home, scoring just once in their two defeats on the road, but they racked up five tries in a victory against Newcastle Falcons at stadium:mk.

And Wood feels the sense of occasion at the new-look Gardens, where the Barwell Stand will be used for the first time, can help to inspire a big showing from his side.

“Hopefully that (playing at the Gardens) will be a big boost,” said the England star.

“We’ve trained on the pitch a couple of times, it’s in great shape, the stadium looks brilliant and we always look forward to playing at Franklin’s Gardens.

“We’ve got Saracens coming this week and they’re always good fun.

“There’s always another week, another game to get up for and a chance to put it right so we will look forward to that.”
