Ross McMillan dotted down before the break and there were scores for Joel Hodgson, Harry Mallinder, Ben Nutley, Lewis Ludlam and Rory Hutchinson after the interval.

Fly-half Will Hooley applied the gloss with 11 points from the tee as the Wanderers showed their class on a cold night at the Gardens.

Sale had taken the lead inside the first minute, with Tom Sanders driven over.

But they were soon hit by a sin-binning as George Hynes saw yellow for his part in an incident involving Hodgson, who was also punished.

Hooley got the Wanderers up and running with a penalty and hooker McMillan, playing at prop due to a lack of loosehead options, made the most of the pack power to score.

The second half was one-way traffic as the Wanderers stepped on the accelerator, with Hodgson profiting from good work by Alex Woolford.

Mallinder dotted down three minutes later and skipper Nutley grabbed the bonus point with a 30-metre run-in.

Ludlam made the most of a maul to make it five home scores and Hutchinson finished the job after taking a lovely pass from Hooley.
