Waller brothers ease Saints’ Corbisiero concerns

Dorian West says he is comfortable with Saints’ front row situation, despite Alex Corbisiero’s injury setback.

West confirmed to the Chron on Thursday that England star Corbisiero requires surgery on the knee injury that has kept him out of action since October 11.

No return date has yet been set, leaving Alex Waller and his brother Ethan to fill the loosehead void in the coming weeks.

But West is not too concerned, especially as Alex, who was named man of the match in last Saturday’s LV= Cup win against Gloucester, has been in fine form in recent weeks,

“I’m really pleased with him,” said West. “We know he’s a good player and he’s always had the potential to be there.

“In these last few weeks he’s stepped up and shown he’s more or less where he needs to be.

“I’m pleased with the people coming up behind him as well, young Ethan, his brother, is playing well and there are a couple of lads we’ve got on loan at other clubs who are doing well, too.

“We’re quite comfortable where we’re at with our looseheads.”
