Saints strengthen squad with signing of Sale lock Paterson
The 29-year-old former Cardiff Blues player is a New Zealander by birth, but is also qualified to play for England and represented the Red Rose against the Barbarians at Twickenham in May, and also on the summer tour to his homeland.

Hide AdPaterson was named ‘Newcomer of the Year’ at Sale last season, which followed the supporters’ player and players’ player of the year gongs he won in his three years at the Arms Park.
Saints director of rugby Jim Mallinder is delighted with the signing, and said: “Michael has proven himself to be a quality player wherever he has been.
“He has earned recognition from national selectors, supporters and players alike for the consistently high levels of performance and commitment in the jersey.

Paterson said: “I’m very excited to be joining Northampton Saints this summer.
