The Northampton pair, neither of whom have been capped by their country, replace injured Saracens players Alex Goode and Joel Tomkins, who have been hit by injury.

The call-ups are reward for fine recent form, which has seen centre Burrell and fly-half Myler propel Saints into the Premiership final.

Both impressed during the play-of semi-final success at Saracens and they have clearly made a big impression on England boss Stuart Lancaster.

“Luther Burrell and Stephen Myler have both played well in the second half of the season and they’ve both got a great opportunity to put a marker down for the future on tour in Uruguay and Argentina,” said Lancaster.

“Our commiserations go to Alex Goode and Joel Tomkins. It’s disappointing that they have to miss out but they have both had excellent seasons and I am sure they will be back in contention next season.”

Burrell has made a huge impact at Franklin’s Gardens since joining from Sale last summer, scoring eight tries in 19 appearances this season.

Myler, too, has enjoyed a stellar campaign, rising to second in Saints’ all-time points scorers list, behind Paul Grayson.

The pair will be just two of eight Northampton players in the England squad, which will be captained by Saint Tom Wood.

The tour includes matches against a CONSUR XV in Montevideo, Uruguay (June 2) and Tests against Argentina in Salta (June 8) and Buenos Aires (June 15).
