Sarries claimed a 28-24 Aviva Premiership success at Allianz Park on Sunday, storming into a 28-10 lead before being made to sweat late on.

The win puts them 10 points clear at the top of the table, with just two points now needed to secure a top-two spot.

And McCall was delighted with the application of his team, even admitting he was willing to forget about the concession of two tries in the final seven minutes.

“I was chuffed with how we played,” he said. “That’s up there with as good as we’ve played all season.

“What I enjoyed was the intent we had in everything we did. We had the intent to counter-attack, intent to carry the ball, intent to chase our kicks. I thought we were really good.

“I thought we were hard to handle at times and to play like that at Allianz Park is where we want to be in the semi-final.

“We’re another step closer to getting a home semi-final. We need two more points so we’re as close as we can be and that will give the players a huge amount of confidence.

“We’ll ignore the last 10 minutes because what happened before that was brilliant.”
