Saints quartet snubbed by England ahead of Six Nations opener

Alex Corbisiero and Christian Day are also left out of the 25-man squad, which will be trimmed to a matchday 23 on Wednesday morning, but Dylan Hartley and Luther Burrell are retained.

Both Hartley and Burrell are expected to start at the Millennium Stadium this week.

Myler, Clark, Corbisiero and Day could now play a part in Saints’ LV= Cup clash with Wasps at Franklin’s Gardens on Saturday.

But the quartet will be disappointed to have been left out by England, with Myler and Clark enduring a repeat of the autumn frustration.

Both players were named in Lancaster’s initial EPS squad, but neither played a single minute in the November Test matches.

Instead, they were repeatedly sent back to Saints, where they excelled in a bid to prove their point.

Myler had hoped to make the cut for the Six Nations after Saracens No.10 Owen Farrell was ruled out with a knee injury.

But George Ford is set to be handed the starting shirt in Cardiff, with Sale’s Danny Cipriani likely to be among the replacements.

Tom Wood, Courtney Lawes and Ben Foden are all ruled out due to injury.
