'We can't thank the fans enough' - Prowse hails Saints supporters

Ed Prowse says the Saints players can't thank the fans enough for the backing they have given the team.

Last Saturday at Sale, there was an impressive travelling support who were able to serenade the players at the final whistle following a memorable 43-29 victory, Saints' first in the league at the Sharks since March 2017.

The black, green and gold have been selling out home matches week after week in recent years as the team's swaggering style ensures the stands remain full at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.

And Prowse said: "It's amazing and we can't thank the fans enough. They're absolutely huge.

"We go to places like Leinster, Bordeaux, Cardiff and the streets are green.

"It's really great to see and one of the great things about this club is the community feel.

"Everyone's involved and it's great."

Saints' support keeps growing as their form at home and abroad keeps getting better.

They are currently top of the Gallagher PREM and into the round of 16 in the Champions Cup for a third successive season.

And Prowse said: "It's really great. The vibe around the group is unbelievable and it just creates such a positive environment when we're all pulling in the same direction.

"We want to continue that throughout this PREM Cup block, keep the momentum going so hopefully we can hit the ground running, flying into the run-in."

Prowse came off the bench to help Saints over the line against Sale last weekend.

And he has been enjoying being able to impact games in the second half.

"I really enjoy that actually, being able to add my piece to the game, add a bit of energy," he said.

"I enjoy coming off the bench and having an impact."

On the season as a whole, Prowse, who has made 14 appearances so far, six of which have been starts, said: "I've been absolutely loving it.

"It's been great really, just being involved loads.

"We've obviously been winning a fair bit, and winning's fun, so it's been good."

Prowse, who came off the bench in last season's Investec Champions Cup final, suffered a nasty arm injury in the final game of last season, at Gloucester.

But he was able to recover quickly and has had a big part to play so far this season.

"I was a bit sceptical with my injury in terms of how I would come back from that, but I seemed to hit the ground running really," he said.

"It's been really positive and I can't really complain about anything."

So what has the 25-year-old former tighthead prop been working on?

"I guess for me, being that bigger body, I'm trying to focus on everything around the collision and how I can make our game go forward both sides of the ball," he explained.

"I'd say (handling) is actually a super-strength of mine since I've been playing rugby really so getting to show that off is quite nice.

"Having the ability on both sides of the ball is a massive USP with second rows and it's really important."

Next up for Prowse and Co is a cup clash with Leicester Tigers at the Gardens on Saturday.

"Obviously it's an East Midlands derby and everyone's really excited to rip into that," he said.

"There's lot of opportunities for different guys, but that doesn't change what we're going to try to do at the weekend and we're really looking forward to it.

"The guys have been training really hard and they've put the work in as much as anybody else.

"Now they get their opportunity to show what they can do, so that's just really exciting for everyone.

"We'd like to right some wrongs from last time in the cup (when Saints lost 34-22 at Leicester in November).

"We didn't quite get our stuff right so we want to put our game on them and show them what we can do properly."
