Saints wing Collins looks to lay marker down after '˜big shock'

Tom Collins admits the head injury he suffered during the win against Glasgow Warriors was '˜a big shock'.

But the young wing is hopeful that he will be fit to face Wasps on Friday night and he is now looking to lay down a marker during the Six Nations period.

Collins was stretchered off after 25 minutes of the Glasgow game, on January 17, having come off worse from an aerial collision with Stuart Hogg.

He missed last Saturday’s victory at Scarlets, but has completed the necessary protocols and looks set to play a part at Franklin’s Gardens this week.

“I’m feeling a lot better,” Collins said. “I had a week or so to recover.

“What happened was a big shock and I couldn’t really remember much from when it happened to before half-time.

“But I’ve spoken to the physios, done everything they’ve said, gone through the protocols and I feel good now.

“Fingers crossed I’ll be fine for Friday night and I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a big time for us young lads with the Six Nations period starting.

“I’m just looking forward to getting out there and putting a marker down.

“I’m just glad I’m alright now. It could have been a lot worse.”
