Saints team-mates: Paul Hill

Paul Hill joined Saints as one of England's most promising props during the summer of 2015.

He has gone on to make 106 appearances for the club so far, and here he gives us his comedic take on his Northampton team-mates...

Who is the best Saints player you've played with?

It's a close call but probably Louis pick-and-go (Picamoles). Next-level skillful, made everything look like he wasn't even trying, swanning around making the rest of us look amateur. Awesome bloke as well, brought in a whole wheel of truffle cheese once, best thing to happen that season.

A few honourable mentions... Tom Wood will rise to any challenge no matter what. He's regularly preaching the idea of bringing an ice hockey style enforcer role into rugby. Also Teimana Harrison when he goes full crazy horse when carrying the ball is something mightily impressive.

Who has been the most skillful Saints player?

Probably Ahsee Tuala. With him being my personal skills coach, I thought I'd learn from the best when it comes to ridiculous out-the-back offloads.

Who has been the Saints kitman’s nightmare?

Big T (Taqele Naiyaravoro). Kitman Kev has resorted to sewing three shirts together to fit him, like trying to squeeze a boulder in a teacup. However, Kev is more likely to flog you some meat than sort you out some kit - we call him Kev the butcher.

Who has been the best Saints dancer?

Not many dancers at the club, however kitman Kev does a great Michael Flatley. From watching Mitch Eadie's recent Tik-Tok videos, I think we might have something special there.

Who has been the worst Saints dresser?

It's a dead heat between Tom Collins and Harry Mallinder. Skin-tight ripped jeans, bright white trainers and jackets that don't fit is a fail-safe combination for these two. Like two peas in an ASOS pod. My motto for daily dress code is 'si sentit bonum, hoc faciam', or for those who don't speak Latin like Gibbo (Jamie Gibson), 'if it feels good, do it'.

Who has been the biggest Saints drinker?

James Wilson was an expert. The ability to drink so much and remain indifferent was something to behold.

Who has the worst chat?

Definitely Jamie Gibson. Although his ability to finish conversations on the best way to 'dirty BBQ' some peppers and steak is quite impressive. Ask him about his weekend and inevitably you'll get a Gibbo's 'Which Best Guide' to Komodo Joe's. I think I'll be employing the two-metre distancing with him for quite a while.

Who is Mr Vain?

Henry Taylor. He likes to sprawl himself over his motorbike for the Insta. Ollie Sleighthome still thinks pouting and eyebrow slits are cool - he's forgotten that he's no longer in Year 8.

Who has had the best hairstyle?

Best hairstyle for me is Teimana Harrison. The ability to pull off a red-neck Super Saiyan mullet and an Amish beard combo looks the bee's knees.

Who is the grumpiest?

Always been some Sappuccinos in the team. Currently Michael van Vuuren is holding first place. It was Ben Franks but I saw him smile for the first time in two years so I think he's turning a corner.

Who is the best singer?

Ben Foden held himself in quite high esteem. Samson Ma'asi is the songbird of his generation though.

Who is the leader?

Dylan (Hartley) always had an impressive way of rallying everyone. I think we've been gifted this year with many strong voices on the field.

Who has been the coach’s favourite?

Sam Vesty has a special place in his heart for Big T. There is a shrine in the coaches' office thralled with pictures of Big T. Some say they exchange hand-written poems once a week but I haven't seen them.
