Saints set to be a man down for Wasps clash after positive Covid-19 test

Saints look set to be without one of their squad members after a positive test for Covid-19 at Franklin's Gardens this week.

Premiership Rugby released their latest results on Wednesday afternoon, with 989 players and club staff (the largest number so far) tested across the league.

It was announced that four people tested positive, from three different clubs.

Of those four, three are non-playing staff but one is understood to be a Saints player.

And with the clock ticking down to Sunday's first game back, the Gallagher Premiership fixture against Wasps at Franklin's Gardens, Saints look set to be shorn of one of their men.

It has not been revealed who the player is, but he and his close contacts will now have to isolate and be assessed in line with the PHE-agreed guidelines.

The results so far...

Week One (July 6) - 804 players and club staff were tested. Of these, 10 people tested positive. Of those 10, six were players (one from Saints) and four non-playing staff

Week Two (July 13) - 856 players and club staff were tested. Of these, nine people tested positive. Of those nine, seven were players and two non-playing staff.

Week Three (July 20) – 896 players and club staff were tested. Of these, two players (one from Saints) tested positive.

Week Four (July 27) - 846 players and club staff were tested. Of these, five people tested positive. Of those five, four were players (one from Saints) and one was a non-playing member of staff.

Week Five (August 3) - 917 players and club staff were tested. Of these, two people tested positive. Of those two, one is a player (from Saints) and one is a non-playing member of staff.

Week Six (August 10) – 989 players and club staff were tested. Of those four people tested positive. Of those three, one is a player (from Saints) and three are non-playing members of staff.
