Hill played alongside Clark for the Wanderers on Monday night, with the pair helping Saints’ second string record a 45-20 win at Worcester Cavaliers in the Aviva A League.
Clark, who was unable to play a single minute of competitive action last season due to a shoulder injury picked up in pre-season, got through the full 80 minutes.
And he is likely to be involved with the first team again very soon, with Hill impressed with how the 27-year-old is shaping up.
“It was my Wandies debut and I felt like I needed a bit of game time under my belt so it was good to have a run out with those lads,” Hill said.

“It was the first time I’ve played with Calum since Saracens in pre-season last year so it was good to play alongside him.
“He’s looking sharp.
“He’s had that tough year last year, but it’s good that he’s back on the horse and playing well.”
England tighthead prop Hill is now looking forward to returning to first-team action for the visit of in-form Wasps this weekend.
The Coventry-based side head to Franklin’s Gardens on the back of three wins from as many games this season, including a crushing 70-22 victory against Bristol last Sunday.
And Hill said: “Wasps have got fitness and a really strong backline, so when they utilise that they can be a really good team.
“For us, it means we have to mark their special players, like Christian Wade and Elliot Daly, who can take teams apart. If we keep them pinned, I’m sure we’ll have a good day.”
Wasps won at the Gardens last season, racing into a 24-3 half-time lead before seeing it out in the second half to earn a 24-11 victory.
But Hill said: “We can’t let what happened last season reflect on what’s going to happen this year, we’ve got to forget that.
“With the way we played last week against Saracens, if we take that into this week, things will be much better for us.”
