Saints conceded three times in the opening 30 minutes as they slumped to their second home defeat of the season.

It means they have dropped down to sixth in the Aviva Premiership standings, with Wasps leapfrogging them following their 24-11 victory at Franklin’s Gardens.

And Wood, who captained Saints on Friday night, was pulling no punches with his assessment on social media.

“U can’t win every week but last night was a disaster,” Wood wrote on Twitter. “We’re ashamed of our performance. Well done to wasps. We really hav sum work to do now.”
