Pearson wants Saints to 'bring it again' as they host Sale Sharks

Tom Pearson says Saints are desperate to compete for silverware in both the Gallagher PREM and Investec Champions Cup this season.

Saints head back into league action after back-to-back bonus-point wins in Europe.

Pearson was at the heart of the 50-5 success at home to Vodacom Bulls last Sunday, producing another all-action performance.

And he is now eager to keep his foot on the gas when the Sharks come calling this weekend.

"We're targeting these games and our game plan probably won't change that much," Pearson said.

"We've very much looking forward to being back in the PREM, at home, and hopefully we'll bring it again this week.

"As a team we're ambitious and we want to do well in both competitions.

"It's important for us to keep guys fit and on the pitch and fight on both fronts, which we didn't do last year.

"We were disappointed with our league form last season, and we want to build it up again this season."

The clash with Sale will be another full-blooded affair.

And Pearson said: "We've had a few big, physical games in a row now but it was good to come out on the right side of it last weekend.

"We wore the Bulls down in the first half quite a lot and we probably should have got more out of that, but we managed to come out with a pretty resounding victory.

"The final score showed where we were at by the end."

When asked how he was feeling after the Bulls battle, Pearson said: "A little bit bruised and battered.

"It's important we look after ourselves and go hard again this week.

"I'm not too bad. Probably better than I was the week before actually."

Pearson is one of several star names in a Saints back row that can call on the likes of Josh Kemeny, Henry Pollock and Callum Chick among others.

"The competition is really healthy at the moment - and it helps us all to push on," Pearson said.

"We've got guys like Kemeny, Pollock, Chicky, who's been a great addition this year.

"We're all pushing each other - and even in training we can't have a bad session.

"We've got to be on it at all times, and that shows in the back row performances so far this season.

"Guys are having to work really hard to keep their jerseys."
