The 20-year-old, who moved to Northampton from Yorkshire Carnegie during the summer, has been included in Eddie Jones’ first squad since taking over the national team.

Hill has started the past three games for Saints, with his previous 10 appearances coming from the bench.

He was a Junior World Championship winner with England in 2014 and will now take the step up to the senior side.

Hill’s fellow Saints tighthead Kieran Brookes, who is currently recovering from knee surgery, is also included.

Dylan Hartley and Courtney Lawes complete the Northampton representation, but there is no place in the squad for either Tom Wood or Luther Burrell.

That means, injury permitting, Saints will be able to call on a strong squad during the Six Nations, boosting their bid for a top-four spot in the Aviva Premiership.

They will face key games at Harlequins, who have six players in the England squad, and Saracens, who have eight, during the tournament.
