Mallinder: Scarlets showing one of North's best for Saints

And the director of rugby feels the 23-year-old will be in a ‘good frame of mind’ as he prepares to help his country scrap it out in the Six Nations.

North heads into the tournament buoyed by last weekend’s display at his former club.

He scored the crucial fourth try for Saints as they secured a bonus-point 22-10 victory at Parc y Scarlets.

And his overall performance was impressive as he caused constant problems for the home defence.

Mallinder was delighted with the display of his wide man and he expects North to be full of belief as he prepares for international duty.

“You want your players to play international rugby and George goes away now having had one of his best games for us on Saturday,” Mallinder said.

“He carried really well and some of his contact work was fantastic, so he’s going into Wales in a really good frame of mind.”
