Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints: Full team news for Friday's cup clash

George Furbank will start at fly-half as he skippers Saints against Leicester Tigers in Friday night’s PREM Rugby Cup clash at Mattioli Woods Welford Road (kick-off 7.30pm).

Furbank played 33 minutes as he made his return from injury last weekend, starting at full-back in the 31-14 home defeat against Newcastle Red Bulls.

The England man now moves to 10 as Anthony Belleau is ruled out with the hamstring issue that forced him off just before the break last Saturday.

Ollie Sleightholme again starts on the wing after making a successful return to action against Newcastle, scoring one try and setting up another.

George Hendy is at full-back after dotting down for England A in their victory against Spain in Valladolid last Saturday.

Archie McParland, who also featured in that England A game, starts at scrum-half.

With Saints keen to give game time to some regular starters ahead of the return to Gallagher PREM action at Bristol Bears next Saturday, JJ van der Mescht returns to the second row.

Josh Kemeny is at six, with Sam Graham starting at No.8.

There is some good news among the replacements as Zimbabwe tighthead prop Cleopas Kundiona is ready to return from injury.

However, Anthony Belleau and Tom James have been added to the unavailable list, along with Will Glister and Marco Manfredi.

Emeka Atuanya, Curtis Langdon, Tom Lockett, James Martin, James Ramm and Charlie Ulcoq remain sidelined.

Alex Coles, Fraser Dingwall, Tommy Freeman, Alex Mitchell, Henry Pollock and Fin Smith (all England), Rory Hutchinson and Elliot Millar Mills (both Scotland), Danilo Fischetti and Edoardo Todaro (both Italy) are on international duty.

Tarek Haffar, who joined Leicester from Saints during the summer, returns from England A duty to line up for Tigers against his former club.

Haffar starts alongside another ex-Saint, Charlie Clare, who will captain Tigers, and tighthead Ale Loman in the front row.

Assistant coach Brett Deacon names three full internationals in the rest of his pack, with Wales flanker Tommy Reffell, Scotland lock Cameron Henderson and Argentina No.8 Joaquin Moro all starting.

Tom Whiteley and Billy Searle form the half-backs, with Joseph Woodward, having returned from Spain along with Haffar, and Will Wand lining up in midfield.

Sam Mercer, borrowed from partner club Nottingham this week, joins Ryan Crowley on the wings, with Orlando Bailey at full-back.
