'It's been wonderful' - prolific Todaro loving life in Saints first team
Edoardo Todaro admits this season has been 'wonderful' so far.
The 19-year-old is enjoying a quite remarkable breakthrough campaign, scoring nine tries in just 12 appearances.
Todaro notched a first-half hat-trick as he was named man of the match in the 43-28 win against Scarlets at a sold-out cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens on Sunday.
And the talented back, who made his Italy debut earlier this season, said: "It's been wonderful, I can't lie.
"Every chance I get, I just try to put my best foot forward.
"I enjoy playing alongside the boys and I'm loving it.
"I'm just taking it as it goes and it's about the next game, next job.
"I'm not thinking too much about it and I'm loving it.
"I don't think too much about scoring tries, more just about getting in positions where I can touch the ball so I’m working off my wing.
"If the tries come, they come, or if it's a two on one, I just give it to my friend."
By securing a bonus-point win against Scarlets, Saints set up a home tie against Castres in the Investec Champions Cup round of 16 on the first weekend of April.
And Todaro said: "It was really important for us to get the home tie.
"We did our job so we're happy.
"We could have done even more because we've got a good squad, but it is what it is and we take the five points.
"That's rugby - we can win, we can lose, but we came out on top.
"We scored in the last minute and we showed what we can do when we put our best foot forward.
"At half-time, we had been trying to do the right thing but not quite hitting the right spots so we wanted to sort out those skill errors.
"Scarlets were really good in defence and attack but we still scored 43 points so we're happy with that."
Discussing his hat-trick, Todaro said: "I've had a few at school but this is my first time professionally.
"I'm getting lucky, I guess!
"I got a bit lucky for one of my tries with the ball arriving in my hands and I just put it down the line, but I'll take it."
Next up for Saints is a tricky Gallagher PREM trip to Sale Sharks on Saturday (kick-off 5.30pm).
"I heard it's tough," Todaro said.
"We'll put our best foot forward and hopefully get a win away in the PREM."
