Injured Saints full-back Furbank forced to withdraw from England squad

Saints ace George Furbank has been forced to withdraw from the England squad after sustaining a head injury against Sale Sharks on Friday night.

Furbank was only on the field for seven minutes before a clash of heads with Jono Ross saw him exit the game, with Harry Mallinder coming on.

The full-back had a HIA (head injury assessment) but was unable to return to the action.

And now he has been ruled out of the Red Rose's preparations for this weekend's Autumn Nations Cup clash with Wales at Parc y Scarlets.

Three other Saints players are currently with the England squad though, with David Ribbans, Lewis Ludlam and Alex Mitchell all at The Lensbury in Teddington.

Ribbans and Mitchell had been released back to Saints in the build-up to last week's Gallagher Premiership opener at the AJ Bell Stadium, and both featured from the bench.
