'I came here to play in games like this' - Saints prop Fischetti on Bordeaux clash

Danilo Fischetti says games like the one Saints face in Bordeaux on Sunday afternoon are one of the main reasons he moved to Northampton.

The Italy loosehead prop switched to Saints from Zebre during the summer, bringing plenty of star quality with him.

He produced a huge display last Saturday, scoring twice in a 66-21 Gallagher PREM win against Harlequins at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.

And he is now looking forward to taking on a Union Bordeaux Bègles team who edged out Saints in last season's Investec Champions Cup final in Cardiff.

"I came here especially to play games like this in Europe," Fischetti said.

"I can't predict anything, we will obviously go there to try to win and we'll see after the game.

"I try to play my best every time and when you go to face Bordeaux away, we know it's another game and we need to be more physical because the big area is going to be the tackle area."

Fischetti has now made 10 appearances for Saints, and the tries against Quins were his first for the club.

"I just follow Mitch (Alex Mitchell) because he dummy, dummy, dummies - he loves the dummy!" Fischetti said, discussing his scores.

"The first try was our play, coming back on the short side, I saw the gap and carried on there.

"The second one, I just saw Mitch start to dummy, I saw the space again and thought I'd go."

On the overall display against Quins, in which Saints scored 10 tries, Fischetti said: "We didn't start really well and Quins did, but after that we came back to our DNA, got back in the game, scored some tries and we dominated them, controlling the game.

"The scrum was a good platform for the attack and also in defence, we put pressure on them.

"It was a good night for the front three."

Yet again, Saints sold out a Gallagher PREM home game at the Gardens.

And Fischetti said: "Playing in front of a full house is always special.

"For me, it's the first time playing in front of supporters like that. They're screaming at you, they sing for you and when you've got a full house, you've got another man on the pitch."
