High-speed first half made McParland sick - but Saints ace had 'so much fun'

Archie McParland labelled Saints' 94-33 win against Bristol Bears 'an absolutely crazy game'.

And the scrum-half, who was named man of the match by TNT Sports, admitted it was great to show everyone what Saints are all about as they secured their Gallagher PREM play-off place.

Saints showed why they are top of the standings as they scored 14 tries in a ruthless performance at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens on Friday night.

It was the perfect was to bounce back from the previous Saturday's 41-17 loss at Leicester Tigers.

And McParland, who started and scored twice against the Bears, said: "It was an absolutely crazy game!

"There was 120 points scored across both teams and it just shows the grit in this team and the bounce back from last week.

"We were really disappointed with the performance last week and, to be honest, these past few weeks because we've not showed the fans and ourselves what it's all about.

"It was really great to put a good performance out there and show everyone what we're really about."

McParland was everywhere at times as Saints scored an astonishing 61 points during the first half.

He kept his foot on the gas before being replaced by Alex Mitchell 14 minutes into the second period.

And McParland said: "I think that's the most running I've ever done in a first half!

"I hope you didn't catch it on camera but I was throwing up at one of the scrums!

"To be part of this team with the players we have, we know we can do that and we know we can put performances out there.

"To do it in this game, which was such a big game in terms of where we are in the league and where other teams are, it was great."

Saints played some sparkling rugby, running the Bears off their feet.

And when asked what it's like to be part of this black, green and gold team, McParland said: "So much fun!

"When you're getting dominant carries and the ball is quick it's the best.

"We practice it in training and to be able to put it out there on game day is great."
