French star Belleau scoops Saints' latest monthly award

Anthony Belleau has been named Saints' cinch player of the month for October.

The 29-year-old edged a tightly-contested vote ahead of fellow nominees Tom Pearson, Alex Coles, Edoardo Todaro, Rory Hutchinson and Tommy Freeman.

Belleau featured in all four of Saints’ outings last month as they enjoyed a perfect October, taking all 20 of the Gallagher PREM points available to them.

Phil Dowson’s side extended their unbeaten start to the campaign, earning a 37-35 victory at Gloucester before defeating local rivals Leicester Tigers 32-26 at cinch Stadium at Franklin's Gardens.

A second away victory followed at Kingston Park as Newcastle Red Bulls were beaten 36-19, before the first PREM block ended with a 43-31 success against Saracens at the Gardens.

In those outings, it was Frenchman Belleau’s 17-point haul at Kingsholm – including the nerveless, match-winning kick in front of The Shed – and two decisive tries off the bench against Leicester, that caught the eye of Saints supporters.

And their votes have now ensured the fly-half has taken home the latest monthly award.
