Lawes reached the sizeable milestone while producing another gargantuan performance for the black, green and gold.

But it wasn't to be enough for Saints as they slipped to a 38-15 defeat to Exeter Chiefs in the quarter-final at Sandy Park.

Nevertheless, Boyd found time to applaud the efforts of Lawes after the game.

"Courtney is the ultimate professional in a lot of ways," Boyd said.

"Irrespective of what the situation is, you just get a quality performance out of Courtney.

"He battled away on Sunday and especially in that first 20 minutes he was very active and determined to do his bit for the team.

"It's unfortunate that at critical times we made mistakes and let them back in the game."
