Boyd expects to have Proctor back for Saints' clash with Bristol
Chris Boyd expects Matt Proctor to be available for selection against Bristol Bears at Franklin's Gardens next Sunday.
Proctor has been nursing a calf injury and was not available for Saturday's 17-14 home win against Sale Sharks.
But Tommy Freeman continued his impressive form in the first 15, starting in the 14 shirt that Proctor has worn on plenty of occasions this season.
And Boyd said: "He (Proctor) will probably be available for selection next week but I thought Tommy Freeman did a pretty decent job.
"Despite the fact Tommy and Ollie (Sleightholme) didn't get many opportunities on the day, we're starting to play a bit better in that space."
Lewis Ludlam was forced off against Sale after taking the knee of Lood de Jager to his head while attempting a tackle.
But Boyd said: "He seems okay.
"He took a nasty knee to the side of the head when he got his head on the wrong side of a tackle.
"We need to get him back on the training field and teach him to get his head on the right side!"
