Boyd delivers injury and availability update ahead of Saints' clash with Harlequins

Biggar played for Wales against England in Cardiff last weekend but was withdrawn during the second half with a slight leg problem.

Saints could opt to call on him against Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop on Sunday, but they will be wary of making any injury issue worse.

And consequently, it seems that Biggar will be treated with caution ahead of Wales' final two Six Nations matches later this month.

"Dan had a small tweak in a part of his leg that was a bit uncomfortable," Boyd said.

"We're still yarning to Dan but the likelihood is that we'll let him have some EPS leave and more than likely we'll make that decision tomorrow.

"But it's more than likely that he will have a leave week."

George Furbank played at 10 last weekend, while James Grayson is another option.

There are slight doubts surrounding Matt Proctor and Piers Francis, who both picked up injury problems against Bath last Sunday.

But Boyd appears confident that they can be available to face Quins.

"He (Proctor) is still a bit ginger and Piers Francis is a bit ginger," said Boyd, speaking during Wednesday's media session.

"We've got three or four guys who didn't train today due to soft tissue and overload injuries and this is the time of the year you've got to manage those properly.

"I think we'll be okay and we'll find out on Friday but we're in a pretty good space."

Teimana Harrison did manage to train on Wednesday as he continues his recovery from a hand injury.

And Boyd said: "Teimana could be available.

"He trained today and trained okay.

"It's just about whether we think he's had sufficient load to be injected into the game from the bench or from the start or not at all.

"There's still a decision to be made there."

But Alex Mitchell and David Ribbans are set to be training with England on Sunday and will miss out for Saints.

"They (England) train on Sunday and we play on Sunday so we're not holding out hope that he (Mitchell) will be available," Boyd said.

"Dave Ribbans is on EPS leave this week and we'd requested that he be with us this week but they require him for training on Sunday so he won't be with us."

Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi signed a new Saints deal on Wednesday, but Boyd confirmed that the prop will not play again this season as he continues his comeback from an Achilles injury.

"No, he's still chugging away on that injury, much the same as Alex Waller had last year," said Boyd, when asked whether Hobbs-Awoyemi could feature during this campaign.

"It's a long-term injury, a snapped Achilles, and they're not to be rushed.

"He'll be back when he's back."

Owen Franks has also been sidelined as he tries to work his way back from a foot injury, while Shaun Adendorff is out for four to six weeks with a knee problem.
