Pisi knows pressure is on in fight for Saints wing berths

Pisi was back in the starting 15 at Bath last Friday, taking the place of George North, who picked up a calf injury in the victory against Harlequins a week earlier.

Tom Collins came off the bench to score in that Amlin Challenge Cup semi-final win against Quins, while Jamie Elliott also impressed.

And with Elliott on the scoresheet at the Recreation Ground last Friday, the competition for wing berths is hotting up at Saints, who are targeting a Premiership and Challenge Cup double.

“It’s a massive month,” said Pisi. “Jamie and George have been playing well and it’s always a challenge to get back into that starting team.

“It pushes us as an individual. Everyone’s fighting for their place and no one’s in a comfortable position. It’s good for the boys.”

Pisi’s return came after he missed the previous three games with a shoulder injury picked up in the Challenge Cup quarter-final success at Sale.

And the Samoa international is now fully fit as he tries to help his team in their bid to claim domestic and European glory.

“It was frustrating to have that injury and I just tried to take my time with it,” said the 25-year-old.

“It’s coming to a crucial part of the season so I had to make sure I didn’t come back too early and do it again.”
