Procter has made more than 100 first-class appearances for the County, and has enjoyed a strong start to 2026 - with the highlight a career-best innings of 261 not out against Kent last month.

With head coach Darren Lehmann having already committed his future to Northants until the end of 2029, Procter believes things are really starting to move in the right direction under the charismatic Australian and he wants to be part of it.

"I'm delighted to be staying with at Northamptonshire for another two seasons," saoid Procter.

"I feel like it's my home and I love representing the club and playing with all of the lads.

"I feel as though we're building something special under the leadership of Darren and to be able to be part of that means a lot to me."

As for Lehmann, he is delighted that his first-class skipper will be sticking around.

"We all love Proccy," said the former Australia head coach.

"His leadership, skillset and understanding of the game are crucial to us as we look to keep moving forward as a team.

"He's the ultimate professional and a senior member of the squad, so we're delighted that he's staying for another couple years."

The new deal, will take Procter past his 40th birthday, is the latest in a long line that has seen key players commit their futures to the club, including the likes of Ben Sanderson, Ricardo Vasconcelos, Justin Broad and Calvin Harrison.
