The family friendly group has enjoyed impressive growth since re-opening in May last year after being shut during the pandemic.

The organisation has produced multiple regional champions since then and has ambitions to nurture more local young talent all the way to the Olympics in 2028.

Having already established successful community clubs in Desborough, Market Harborough, Kettering, Rothwell and Geddington, head coach Luke Smith believes now is the perfect time to try and increase the number of communities they are working with.

“We’ve seen a steady growth in all our locations since re-opening last May and we’re delighted with the progress the students are making every week,” he said.

“For some of our members it’s a case of simply wanting to improve their fitness level in a fun and engaging way. For others the aim is to climb through the ranks up to black belt, or even represent Team GB and become a World or Olympic champion.

“With talent coming through like Harlee Hooker, who recently took a double gold at the Peterborough Championship Series, it shows that we are delivering progress in all areas.

“We want to help as many people as we can improve their lives, meet their goals and celebrate their achievements.

“We now have a base in the Corby area, and we’re excited to see the progress the new members there will make.

“It’s important for us to develop safe and welcoming spaces where people can come along and feel like they are part of something special.”

The new Corby classes take place every Tuesday between 6pm and 7pm (Juniors) and 7pm and 8pm (Adult/Family Class) at Weldon Village Hall, and the full timetable with classes running seven days a week throughout Northamptonshire can be found online at www.lskmartialarts.com.
