Kettering Gymnastics Club have been awarded National Lottery funding from Sport England’s Return to Play Fund.

The grant will be used towards extending the available space in the club’s current premises in Brunel Close for gymnasts to enjoy and train in.

This has involved re-modelling the reception area, creating a mezzanine floor and, in total, creating over 1,000 sq ft of extra usable space to be used during the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.

The outbreak of the virus and the consequent shutdown of businesses as of March 23 last year has left the sport and physical activity sector facing a period of uncertainty.

In response, on March 31 Sport England announced a £195m package to help the sport and physical activity sector through Covid-19.

This grant has allowed Kettering Gymnastics Club to increase the amount of usable space – so allowing gymnasts to train in an even more safe environment than previously available.

In time this will also allow more gymnasts to use the gym as restrictions begin to be lifted.

Kettering Gymnastics Club provides a safe and secure environment, open to all, in which to experience, learn and practice Gymnastics activity for children and young adults from the age of one upwards.
