'Easy decision' for Darren Lehmann as he pledges future to Northants until 2029
Darren Lehmann admitted it was 'an easy decision' to put pen to paper a new two-year contract extension at Northants.
The Australian has committed himself to life at the County Ground until at least the end of the summer of 2029.

Lehmann, who took over from John Sadler ahead of the 2025 season, had already signed a one-year extension to his original two-year contract last August meaning he would be at the club until the end of the 2027 campaign.
But the former Australia head coach will now be in charge at Wantage Road for at least three more seasons after this one, and declared himself 'delighted' to be staying on at Northants.
"It was an easy decision for me because I love the place," said Lehmann.
"Everyone has made it such a family club for me, so I'm delighted to be carrying on here.
"We just want to keep improving and hopefully we represent the club proudly along the way."
Chatting ahead of the current season, Lehmann spoke then of how much he enjoys life in Northampton, saying: “I wouldn’t be coming back if I didn’t love it.
“The lads are great, the club’s great, I have really enjoyed my time and I love the competitions, all the three different formats.
“It is a busy season, but it is good fun and I can’t complain.”
Lehmann, who won the 50-over World Cup and the Ashes as coach of his country, has certainly made an impression since taking the top job at the County Ground.
The high point of his first season in charge was leading the Steelbacks to Finals Day in the Vitality Blast, the first time the Steelbacks had reached the showpiece event for nine years, although theu lost their semi-final to Hampshire Hawks.
There was disappointment in the the Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign as well as the second-bottom finish in the Rothesay County Championship Division Two, but this season has started encouragingly.
After three draws to open the four-day campaign, Northants are currently sitting second in the division two table, and chief executive Ray Payne is excited to have secured Lehmann's services for a longer period.
"We're all thrilled to have secured Darren's services for another two years," said Payne.
"It's been an excellent fit since his first day and he's taking the club in a really positive direction.
"Darren's transparency and connection with the supporters has made a notable impact and the excitement around what the following years could bring on the field is a testament to his work so far."
