Burton Latimer racer Annabel Thomas enjoyed a positive start in the Honda British Talent Cup at Snetterton after joining the Microlise Creswell Racing team.

After acclimatising herself to the bike in FP1 around the Snetterton 300 circuit, Thomas began to push in FP2 and made her way to the top 10 with a 2.11 and she was feeling good for Saturday’s qualifying.

That didn’t quite go to plan with a small clutch problem resulting in her qualifying in P20.

However, for the race itself, a decent start helped her maintain her position and then she went on the attack.

Thomas went from 2.11s to 2.09s then 2.08s, working her way up to P12 with a 2.7 second gap to 11th.

And, with a few laps to go, she eventually crossed the line to take 11th by 0.12.

With confidence high, Thomas had another strong performance in race two, despite a bad start which left her in last place.

But her riding was improving all the time and again she showed her pace on track with another step up in lap times into the 2.07s and she fought her way back to P13.

“I’m so frustrated with myself,” she said.

“We’ve got top-eight pace, if only I could get off the line! There’s lots of work to do now for Silverstone.”

Thomas thanked Microlise Cresswell Racing, Four Anjels Racing, Wilson Browne Solicitors, Caterin Investments Stanair, West End DIY, Northants Community Fund and her friends and family for their continued support.

It was a tough weekend for Kettering’s Jamie Perrin in the second round of the Quattro British Supersport/GP2 at Snetterton.

Perrin was plagued with problems every time he was on track in both practice sessions and wasn't able to get a time in.

Due to an electrical issue on the MV Agusta, the team decided to allow Perrin to run his own Yamaha bike for the remainder of the weekend, with the plan to return on the MV in the third round at Silverstone.

Perrin started the opening race from 19th place on the grid and produced a solid performance to finish in 10th place.

There was then an issue with tyre pressure before the start of the second race and Perrin was unable to start.

Perrin passed on his thanks to his personal sponsors APS (Andrew Pipework Services) for their continued support and to the team for all of the hard work in getting the Yamaha ready.
