Northampton Saints sign Ospreys star Fotuali’i

Saints have completed the signing of Samoan scrum-half Kahn Fotuali’i.

The Ospreys No.9, who terrorised Leicester Tigers in a recent Heineken Cup match, will move to Franklin’s Gardens this summer.

Saints have reportedly offered the 30-year-old a £250,000 a year contract to see off competition from the likes of Munster and Racing Metro.

Fotuali’i has played 39 times for Ospreys during his two seasons at the club and has been capped 13 times by Samoa, who he represented in the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

And Saints boss Jim Mallinder couldn’t hide his delight at the signing.

He said: “Kahn is a player who has attracted a lot of positive headlines and attention throughout his career.

“He has a superb set of skills and is a powerful and dynamic runner who will add to our options in one of the team’s crucial positions.

“We’re delighted that he has chosen to sign a long-term contract to play his rugby at Franklin’s Gardens, and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the club in the summer.”
