Loanee scores but Wanderers are beaten by Falcons

On-loan loosehead prop Rikki Stout grabbed a score but it proved in vain as the Wanderers suffered a 35-13 defeat at Newcastle Falcons on Monday night.

Stout, the Coventry front row forward, helping Northampton out due to a shortage of players in his position, broke a tackle and rolled over the line during the second half at Kingston Park.

But despite a spirited showing from the away side, it was Newcastle who prevailed in slippery conditions.

A double from Danny Barnes, allied with scores from Rob Hawkins and Sebastian Ferreira gave the home side a bonus-point Aviva ‘A’ League success.

Stout’s try and eight points from the boot of fly-half Will Hooley were all the Wanderers had to show for their efforts.
