Kettering Arrows, the inclusive youth darts initiative based in Burton Latimer, were honoured last night at the North Northants Active Community Awards, after being shortlisted in the highly competitive Community Organisation/Group category.

The awards, held at Sywell Aerodrome recognised exceptional community groups making a positive impact on health, wellbeing, and physical activity across the region.

Despite being active for just over five months, Kettering Arrows achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching the final four in their category - an achievement the founders describe as “a huge step forward for a grassroots club built from passion, purpose, and community spirit.”

The finalists in the Community Organisation/Group category were: Chapel Gym, Kettering Arrows, Rush 2 The Den (Winner), The Compound Wellingborough and Totally Netball

Rush 2 The Den were named overall winners, and Kettering Arrows extend warm congratulations to them on their achievement.

Kettering Arrows was established with a mission to provide a safe, supportive environment for neurodivergent young people and those experiencing social anxiety, using darts as a tool for connection, confidence-building, and social development. The group has quickly grown into a thriving community where young players form friendships, overcome isolation, and develop new skills both on and off the oche.

“We are incredibly proud to have been runners-up. To be recognised at this level after only five months is extraordinary,” the Kettering Arrows founders said. “We’re committed to continuing our work throughout the year - supporting neurodivergent young people, easing social anxiety, and creating a space where friendship, fun, and darts come together.”

The team also paid tribute to their volunteers, partners, families, and supporters, saying: “Your encouragement means everything. We wouldn’t be here without you.”

Kettering Arrows continue to expand their work in the community, with upcoming tournaments, collaborative events, and fundraising initiatives planned for the coming year.
