Foden limped off during the second half of the game at Franklin’s Gardens last weekend and was sent to a specialist to discover the extent of the problem.

He was told he has suffered PCL (posterior cruciate ligament) damage, ruling him out of Saturday’s game at Worcester.

And after Saints’ 33-10 win at Sixways, director of rugby Jim Mallinder revealed how long the full-back will be out for.

“I think it will be around the 12-week mark that Ben will be out for,” said Mallinder. “It’s very unfortunate for him.

“He’s very confident he can get back before then, he’s aways positive, which is good, so we’ll have to see how that goes.”
