Stuart Lancaster’s side, who have won their opening two Six Nations games in impressive fashion, have this weekend off ahead of their crucial trip to Ireland on March 1.

“We will release some players back to their clubs this evening (Tuesday) as it will be a good opportunity for them to play for their clubs on a big Aviva Premiership weekend and before we get together ahead of the Ireland training week,” Lancaster said.

“Tom Wood and Courtney Lawes will be released back to their club for further assessment and treatment with a view to them resuming training with us next week.”

Bath will be without Dave Attwood, George Ford, Jonathan Joseph and Anthony Watson for Saturday’s game at The Rec, but Kyle Eastmond is available.

Saints go to the west country sitting five points clear of Mike Ford’s men at the top of the Premiership table.
