Wilson wants to do it all over again - but this time with Kettering

A year ago, the winger was playing a vital role in Corby Town’s stunning run of form that culminated in them pipping Poole Town for the title with a dramatic 3-2 final-day win on the south coast.

Fast forward 12 months and Carvalho is at it again, except this time he’s doing it at Latimer rather than Steel Park.

And he isn’t alone either. Herve Pepe-N’Goma, Spencer Weir-Daley and Paul Walker are also plying their trade at Kettering Town these days having helped the Steelmen to the title last season.

Carvalho has made a big impact since joining the Poppies in November.

The team have lost just four games in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division since then and his 11th goal for the club secured a 1-0 victory over Slough Town last Saturday before Easter Monday’s clash with Bedworth United was called off.

The Poppies are unbeaten in seven matches and that run has moved them to within touching distance of the play-off places.

One of the teams they are chasing, Hitchin Town, are the visitors to Latimer Park this weekend in a huge game for both clubs.

And Carvalho said: “It’s very similar to last season for me.

“Obviously last year we were a bit higher up the table and we got our heads down, listened to what the manager had to say and went on a brilliant run.

“It’s been the same in the last few weeks here. We are just looking forward to battling away.

“We want to win all the games that we have left and if we do that then we will be in a very good position.

“If you’re going to challenge for the play-offs then you have to win the big games.

“We are more than capable of getting the job done. The focus doesn’t change and the manager has said to us that he doesn’t worry about these big games against teams above us.

“Hopefully we can continue the good run we are on with the home games we still have coming up.”

Carvalho, meanwhile, is hoping he can maintain his good form in front of goal.

He made an immediate impact when firing home a stoppage-time equaliser at Merthyr Town on his debut and has continued to endear himself to the Poppies fans since then.

And he just wants that good form to continue.

“I am delighted with the amount of goals I have scored,”

“I want to carry on doing what I am doing, whether that means setting goals up or scoring them myself.

“I want to help the club win trophies and hopefully the goals will keep coming.”
