Whitworth moved level on points with second-placed Bugbrooke on Wednesday night as they followed up last weekend’s 2-1 victory over Lutterworth Athletic with a 5-1 success at bottom club Burton Park Wanderers thanks to goals from Cavell Jarvis (2), Remy Brittain, Matt Judge and James Gorman.

The Flourmen are now well placed to earn promotion to the Premier Division as they have two games in hand on Bugbrooke.

But James Mallows’ team face a stiff test of their credentials tomorrow (Saturday) when they head to current leaders Daventry Town, who are two points clear at the summit.

In-form Raunds Town, who are unbeaten in four matches, could have a big say in the promotion race over the next couple of weeks as they host fourth-placed Olney Town this weekend before taking on Whitworth next Saturday.

Elsewhere tomorrow, Wanderers have another local derby as they take on Rushden & Higham United at Latimer Park.

Stewarts & Lloyds, who won the battle of the bottom two when they beat Wanderers 2-0 last week, host sixth-placed Potton United while Irchester United entertain Melton Town.

Thrapston Town are also on home soil as they face Woodford United.
