Stone targeting new striker as Doughboys top scorer Jones faces spell on the sidelines
Wellingborough Town boss Jake Stone is on the hunt for attacking reinforcements after confirming top scorer Will Jones is facing 'an unknown amount of time' on the sidelines due to injury.
Front man Jones was crocked in the 1-1 home draw with St Neots Town on New Year's Day, the striker taking a heavy and late tackle on his right ankle from visiting skipper Robbie Parker.

The incident happened in the penalty area as Jones was trying to score his second goal of the game from close range at the end of the first half of the 1-1 draw, but was missed by the referee.
Jones' absence is a blow for Stone as the forward has been in consistent scoring form all season, and the Doughboys boss is now looking for a new signing to bolster his attacking options for the run-in to the Pitching-In Northern Premier League Midlands Division season.
And the new man could be in place for Saturday's crunch clash with second-placed Belper Town at the Dog & Duck (ko 3pm).
"We’ve unfortunately lost our top goal scorer, Will Jones, to injury for an unknown amount of time, so we are in the market to bring in one more forward‑thinking player," revealed the Doughboys boss.
"We’ve got attacking options who can play in several forward positions and can cover for Jonesy’s absence, and we’re confident in them stepping in.
"But I would like one more.
"I am hopeful we can get one signing done this week who might even be involved on Saturday, but we’ll have to wait and see.
"If we can get that over the line, we’ll be set for the remainder of the season."
The Doughboys, who are seventh and just two points outside the play-offs, will move to within two points of Belper with a win this weekend.
