The old adage of ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it’ seems to be being applied at Steel Park for the time being after a stunning run of form under caretaker-manager Steve Kinniburgh.

The club remain keen for Kinniburgh to be a long-term figure in the development of the academy at Steel Park while also continuing his ongoing work in local schools.

So, for the time being at least, the ‘caretaker’ role will continue.

Kinniburgh has led the Steelmen to six wins in a row in the Evo-Stik League South, a run that has thrown them right into the promotion mix.

They head to Frickley Athletic this weekend, having thumped Belper Town 5-0 last Saturday and Noble said: “We will continue to look at it on a month-by-month basis.

“The job Steve is doing is giving us a chance to take stock and sometimes you have to look at yourselves as well as everything else.

“The key to this is that as long as it is not having a massive impact on his other duties then we will keep it going.

“He has already had a couple of knocks with things like Ben Diamond leaving but Steve’s attitude is first class.

“If anything, doing the job is just enhancing his standing when he goes out to the schools and community to do his work.

“And the players within the academy are buzzing because they are seeing players getting an opportunity and they know that could be them before too long.

“We have full confidence in his ability. The team are playing very well and that has given everyone a lift."
