The 32-year-old has joined the Steelmen after his contract with Sky Bet League Two club Yeovil Town was terminated by mutual consent earlier this month.

McLeod has enjoyed a fine career in the Football League, making nearly 500 appearances and scoring 161 goals.

His best spells came at Milton Keynes Dons and Barnet while he also has one England under-21 cap to his name.

Now he has become Gary Mills’ latest and most notable signing as he rebuilds the Steelmen squad in a bid to move away from the bottom of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division.

And Mills was unable to hide his delight after capturing the frontman’s signature.

“I am sure people will look at it and think that he will be on big money and we are the money bags all of a sudden,” the Steelmen boss said.

“But that’s not what this is about. We fit what Izale wants to do in the next step of his life.

“It fits his personal life. He doesn’t want to play full-time, he wants to be part-time and he had other options with a club in the National League and one in the National League North who also wanted him.

“But he has chosen us. (Assistant-manager) David Bell played a big part in this one and Izale has done his homework on us, he know what we are all about and what we want to try to do.

“I have to thank the board again for backing us with another signing.

“There are no guarantees in football but we know that Izale will bring valuable experience and he has already shown what he is all about when training with the lads.

“Hopefully he will score us some goals and with him, Stefan Moore and Jordan Smith, we have some really good attacking options.”

McLeod is in line to make his debut in Saturday’s clash with Barwell at Steel Park along with Jordan Smith who also signed for Corby from Stamford earlier this week.

McLeod becomes the second signing of the week at Steel Park after another striker, Jordan Smith, joined Corby from Stamford.
