Corby Town have confirmed they will “roll forward” season tickets purchased for last year for the 2021-22 campaign.

The Steelmen’s 2020-21 Pitching In Southern League Division One Central campaign was, along with most other non-League divisions, curtailed earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Gary Mills had led Corby to the top of the table in the early stages of the season before matches were halted.

However, planning for the next campaign now looks to be under way at Steel Park.

It remains unclear what division they will be playing in due to a proposed restructure of the non-League pyramid with a switch to the Northern Premier League South/East Division being a possibility.

However, in a statement to fans, chairman Steve Noble confirmed that an increase in season ticket sales last year and the supporters contributing to the ‘Promotion Push Fund’ has ensured there will be no change to the playing budget.

It has also already been confirmed that Corby will be part of the Newlands Shield competition in pre-season where they will play against both Kettering Town and Brackley Town.

“With sports gradually opening up and the success of the vaccination programme, we are optimistic about the prospects for the new season,” Noble said.

“After two aborted promotion pushes, let's hope it is third time lucky!

“If the events of the past weeks have taught us anything it is that the most important thing in football is the supporters.

“We are blessed to have some of the most loyal and committed supporters anywhere.

“Last year, with all the uncertainties around Covid, we actually increased our season ticket sales.

“On top of that our fans have contributed over£10k to the Promotion Push Fund.

“All this has been put aside to safeguard our finances. It means that despite everything that has happened, we are able to commit to the same playing budget as last year, as well as retaining Gary Mills and probably the best and most successful coaching team in the entire Southern League.

“On behalf of the club, I wish to say a huge thank you for your loyal support.

“The easiest decision we have taken in the long close season has been to roll forward season tickets to cover the upcoming season. We look forward to welcoming you back to Steel Park at the earliest opportunity.

“Our preparations are already well underway, with an attractive pre-season, mini-tournament booked against local rivals Brackley Town and Kettering Town, with more fixtures in the pipeline.”
