Stalwart Doyle departs the Poppies after an 11-year stint with the club

Doyle, who was the technical director at Latimer Park, arrived at the Poppies at the time of their major financial crisis in 2012 and eventually took the managerial role after owner Ritchie Jeune and others came to the rescue.

Doyle and Thomas Baillie helped stabilise things on the pitch, recruiting players on virtually no budget at the time.

And Doyle remained at the club in a scouting role before being appointed as technical director.

But, with Jeune stepping back from the day-to-day running of the club, Doyle has now departed.

In a statement, he said: “It is that sad time to say to everyone involved with Kettering Town Football Club, that I am announcing after 11 years and three months I have left the mighty Poppies.

“This coincides with Ritchie Jeune, who joined almost the same day as myself at Nene Park, and with Ritchie moving on I feel it is time for me to go as well.

“I remember all the problems we had over the first couple of years as all the effort and financing of the club that Ritchie resolved, he gave me the chance to help the club grow first at Corby and then finally at Latimer Park.

“The club has just appointed their 11th manager during my time and the best of luck to him and our fantastic fans.

“The ‘Dapper Doyle’ song still resonates with me as of course all the brilliant players over the years I have spotted (too many to mention) or helped with the signings.

“I will miss so many wonderful people from the ladies and staff that look after the clubhouse, all the volunteers, our kit men and media team, god bless you all.”
