Sinclair delighted but drained as Real Bedford beat Poppies to reach play-off final
Real Bedford manager Rob Sinclair revealed that he was drained at full time after seeing his side get past Kettering Town in the Pitching-In Southern League Premier play-off semi-final on Wednesday night.
The Pirates ran out 3-1 winners against a Poppies side that wilted on the big stage, in front of record crowd of 1,593 at McMullen Park.

Scoring after just 30 seconds, the hosts were then in full control of the game, keeping league's form team to a mere handful of opportunities.
"I was impressed with the energy in the first 20 - 30 seconds, it was an incredible start - it caught Kettering off guard,” said Sinclair.
"We then we carried on with that energy in the first half and that fast start quietens the Kettering fans.
"I think Kettering can play both ways, they're similar to Harborough in that tag - they have some huge guys but can also keep the ball on the floor.
"In the right moments they do load your box because they have those giants. I thought our back three and Kingy (goalkeeper) were immense."
Josh Allen had the chance to make the scoreline 3-0 with a penalty on the hour mark, but side footed his effort into the body of Paul White and there was a palpable shift in momentum which Sinclair recognised.
"As soon as you miss a penalty the momentum swings, that's just how football works especially in a play-off game.,” said the Real boss.
"And then they get their goal and you're like 'aghh'. And then we had a 10 minute spell which I think we nullified and quieten the crowd in the spell. Getting the third and sort of sealing it off was really pleasing.
"I don't think it was easier or enjoyable until the final whistle went - I'm pretty drained now!
"I think the courage my players are showing, for a young group in terms of the way we play is really pleasing to see. The working ethic on top of that is also outstanding. If we can continue that going into Monday we can give ourselves the best possible chance."
Real Bedford now travel to Spalding United who finished second in the league, and edged Halesowen Town 1-0 on Wednesday night to progress to Monday’s play-off final (ko 3pm).
"I think it's going to be a great game," said Sinclair. "Both sides are attacking, our previous game was 3-3, it was like a basketball game.
"Obviously they've got outstanding players for this level and a really experienced and good manager in Jimmy (Dean) so yeah we know it's going to be tough but we go into full of confidence and courage in terms of how we play."
